Slack Times is a indie pop punk band from Birmingham, AL. They asked me to design the album art for their 12” vinyl album Carried Away, released on Madrid-based record label, Meritorio Records. The band gave me full creative freedom for this project, which included cover art, a double-sided insert, label design, and digital assets for social media promotion. (Fun fact: since the release in June, the vinyl is sold out!)

I created the album art by using textures from physical materials like plastic table covers, ripped paper and strokes of red paint borrowed from one of my own paintings. Beginning the creative process like this helped me to ideate beyond the limits of my screen, and connect to the tangibility of the final product.

At the time, I was into the idea of collaging fragments of ideas together until a solution emerged from what seemed like nonsense. Solutions are always there, but sometimes they do not arise from a logical process.
